Jamie Vardy, Daniel Sturridge And Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Stand Up To Cancer in a Gogglebox Special
Jamie Vardy, Daniel Sturridge and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain settled down on the Gogglebox sofa to give their own unique take on the week’s TV in support of Stand Up To Cancer 2016.
Bafta award winning Gogglebox returned once again with a celebrity special for the third time as part of Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer spectacular, aired live on Friday 21st October.
Jamie Vardy said “Being fans of the show ourselves, we couldn’t wait to join the Gogglebox families and hope that together we have helped raise vital funds and awareness for Stand Up To Cancer.”
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain added, “With one in two of us developing cancer in our lifetime, it’s so important for us to join together and do as much as we can. By being part of this Gogglebox special, we’re delighted to have helped support this amazing cause and really make a difference.”
The players were joined in the special edition by Olly Murs and Niall Horan, Steve Coogan and Anna Friel. Between their own cutting remarks, tears and laughter were the views of the usual Gogglebox households including retired Leon and June, hairdressers Christopher and Stephen and Brixton’s finest Sandy and Sandra.
This year Celebrity Gogglebox was even more poignant as it was the first celebrity special without the celebrated narration of Caroline Aherne who the show was dedicated to.
Launched in the UK in 2012, Stand Up To Cancer UK raises funds for translational research, accelerating new cancer treatments and tests to UK patients to save more lives, more quickly.
