England Players To Host Lions and Roses 2016
As anticipation builds ahead of the Summer of football and England complete final preparations for the European Championships in France, the England Footballers Foundation will once again host our flagship event Lions and Roses.
Once again this star studded event promises to be an unforgettable evening of music, entertainment and fundraising for charitable causes supported by the England Footballers Foundation. Beneficiaries will include UNICEF, Honeypot Children’s Charity and the players’ own EFF Academy that provides coaching, education and employability programmes to disadvantaged youngsters across the country.
The event is an ideal opportunity for the players to shine a spotlight on Unicef and Honeypot Children’s Charity and raise awareness of their fantastic work. Unicef and The EFF have partnered to try and help protect children from the danger of malaria – a disease which is still the biggest killer of children under five in Africa, claiming the life of a child every 45 seconds.
Honeypot really stood out to the players as a charity partner, particularly the fact that there are children as young as five years old missing out on their own childhood while they take on massive responsibilities at home caring for a parent or sibling or both. Statistics claim there are 175,000 young carers across the UK – in reality there are hundreds of thousands more who are unaccounted for.
The players would like to extend their thanks to AO.com, Berkeley Travel, BT Sport’s charitable initiative The Supporters Club, Michael Elliott Property Investment Advisors and Nike for their support of the event.
